Local SEO, explained
What are local SEO services?
Local SEO services get your business shown to people nearby who are searching for what you sell: in the Google Map Pack (the three businesses on the map), in the regular results for searches with a town or “near me,” and in AI answers that recommend local businesses. The work covers four things at once: your Google Business Profile, consistent listings across directories, a steady flow of reviews, and website pages that clearly name your services and the area you serve.
It’s different from general SEO because the results depend on where the searcher is standing. The same search can show different businesses a few miles apart, so we track and improve your visibility across your whole service area, not from one spot.
What does monthly local SEO work include?
The work that keeps you in the Map Pack.
Google Business Profile posts and fixes
Review requests and replies
Rankings checked across your service area
Which local SEO tactics get businesses penalized?
Shortcuts Google removes or suspends for.
Fake addresses or virtual offices
Copy-paste city pages
Bought or fake reviews

Frequently asked questions about local SEO services
What is local SEO?
Local SEO is the work that gets a business found by nearby customers: in the Google Map Pack, in local search results and in AI answers. It combines Google Business Profile optimization, consistent listings, reviews and local website pages.
How much do local SEO services cost?
Our plans are $950 (Foundation), $1,750 (Growth) and $3,200 (Acceleration) a month. Each starts with a three-month term, then runs month to month. Additional locations are $300 a month plus a $450 setup.
How long does local SEO take?
Profile updates usually show within 2 to 4 weeks, Map Pack movement typically within 60 to 120 days, and lead growth over three to six months.
What is the Google Map Pack?
The Map Pack, or local 3-pack, is the box of three businesses with a map that Google shows above the regular results for local searches. Most calls from a local search go to those three.
How do I rank higher on Google Maps?
Choose the right categories, list your real service area, post and add photos regularly, earn steady reviews and reply to them, keep your listings consistent, and give your website clear service and area pages. Google explains its local ranking factors here.
Do I need a separate page for every city I serve?
Not usually. Pages that only swap the town name are doorway pages under Google’s spam policies. One strong area page that names your towns, backed by your Google Business Profile service area, works better. A separate page makes sense where you have a real location or something unique to say.
How important are reviews for local SEO?
Very. How many reviews you have, how recent they are and whether you reply all affect local rankings. We send review requests automatically after each job, and we never buy or fake reviews.
What is the difference between local SEO and SEO?
SEO improves how your whole site ranks. Local SEO focuses on searches with a place in them and on the Map Pack and your Google Business Profile. Most local businesses need both. See SEO services.
What is the difference between local SEO and AI search optimization?
Local SEO targets Google’s map and local results. AI search optimization targets ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google’s AI Overviews when people ask them for recommendations. Strong local fundamentals help both.
What do I need before starting local SEO?
Two things: a Google Business Profile with a verified location, and your business listings in place. That means the Data Aggregator Boost ($249 a year) and at least 10 directory listings ($149); we recommend 25 ($299). See listings.
Can you do local SEO for a service-area business without a storefront?
Yes, but it’s harder. Google ranks service-area businesses differently, and many directories require a public address, so there are fewer listing options. We’ll tell you on the free call what to expect for your business.
Can you do local SEO for a business with several locations?
Yes. Each location gets its own Google Business Profile, listings and location page, set up so they don’t compete with each other. See multi-location SEO.
Can you do local SEO for businesses outside Greater Cincinnati?
Yes. Local SEO is done online with map-grid tracking from your customers’ locations, so we work with businesses anywhere in the U.S. See our service areas.
Do you guarantee a top-three Map Pack ranking?
No. Google decides rankings, and no one can honestly guarantee them. We show you the work done each month, your rankings across your service area, and the calls and leads that came in.
Can I see examples of your work?
Yes. For Jeannie’s Cleaning we rebuilt the website, built business listings, added schema and optimized the Google Business Profile, and local service businesses such as Summerside Pools trust us with their local search. See every project on our projects page.
