Reputation, explained
What is online reputation management?
Online reputation management is shaping what people find when they look you up: your star rating, how recent and specific your reviews are, how you reply, and what Google and AI assistants say when someone asks whether you’re any good. For a local business, it starts and ends with a steady flow of real reviews.
Most buyers read reviews before they call, and AI assistants now draw on those same reviews when they describe a business. Recent, detailed reviews also help your Google Maps rankings.
How do you get more Google reviews?
Ask every customer, at the right moment, the easy way.
A text and email request after every job
QR review cards for counters, trucks and invoices
Customer photos and stories you can share
Is it legal to buy Google reviews?
These get reviews removed and profiles suspended.
Buy, trade or fake reviews
Hide the public review option from unhappy customers
Argue with reviewers in public

Reviews and rankings
How do Google reviews affect local rankings and AI answers?
Reviews feed three things at once: whether customers call, where you rank on Google Maps, and how AI assistants describe you.
See Google Business Profile
How reviews affect customer trust
Most buyers check reviews before they call. Recent, specific reviews close the deal before you ever talk.
How reviews affect Google Maps rankings
How many reviews you have, how recent they are, what they say and whether you reply all feed Google’s prominence signal for the Map Pack.
How reviews affect AI assistant answers
When someone asks ChatGPT or Gemini whether a business is any good, the answer often draws on public reviews.
How to reply to Google reviews
Future customers read how you respond. A calm, prompt reply to a bad review can earn more trust than the review cost you.

Frequently asked questions about reputation management and reviews
What is online reputation management?
Online reputation management is monitoring and improving what people find when they look up your business: your reviews and rating, how you reply, your search results and how AI assistants describe you.
How do I get more Google reviews?
Ask every happy customer right after the job, with a direct link that takes one tap. Automate the request by text and email, add one reminder, and put QR review cards where customers pay or pick up. Then reply to every review.
How much does reputation management cost?
Review Replies is $149 a month for Ambition OS customers, whose review requests go out automatically. Review Campaigns + Replies is $199 a month if you don’t have a CRM, with a one-time $299 campaign setup. If you have your own CRM, we set up review requests inside it for $299.
Is it legal to ask customers for reviews?
Yes. Asking real customers for honest reviews is allowed. Buying reviews, paying for them, or hiding the public review option from unhappy customers is not.
Do you buy or write reviews?
Never. Paid and fake reviews break the FTC’s rules and every major platform’s terms, and they get reviews removed and profiles suspended. Every review we help you earn comes from a real customer. See Google’s review policies.
Can you remove a negative review?
No one can remove a real review just because it’s negative. Platforms remove reviews that break their own rules, and you can report those. What we do is help you earn more recent reviews and reply to the rest professionally.
How should I respond to a negative review?
Reply calmly and promptly, thank them, acknowledge the issue without arguing, and offer to talk offline. With our review plans we draft the reply and alert you the same day about 1 and 2 star reviews.
Should I respond to positive reviews too?
Yes. A short, specific thank-you shows future customers you pay attention, and replying to reviews is part of an active Google Business Profile.
How many reviews does a small business need?
There’s no magic number. What matters is a steady flow of recent, real reviews, which is why we send a request after every job instead of asking in bursts.
Do reviews help Google Maps rankings?
Yes. Google counts reviews as part of prominence, one of its three local ranking factors. The number of reviews, how recent they are and whether you reply all matter.
Do AI assistants look at reviews?
Often. When someone asks an AI assistant whether a business is reputable, the answer frequently draws on public information such as reviews, so a steady flow of real reviews helps.
What is review gating, and why isn’t it allowed?
Review gating means sending only happy customers to public review sites and steering unhappy ones away. Google’s policies prohibit it. Our private feedback form is offered alongside the review link and never blocks anyone from posting publicly.
Do you manage reviews for businesses near me in Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky?
Yes. We’re based in Greater Cincinnati and manage reviews for businesses across Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky, as well as clients across the U.S.
Can I see examples of your work?
Yes. For Jeannie’s Cleaning we rebuilt review request automation during an ownership change. See every project on our projects page.
